Odor Removal
In recent years, environmental pollution is an increasing serious issue,
and we are surrounded by a wide variety of unpleasant odors, bacteria and viruses. In addition to being unpleasant, they also have an adverse effect on our health.
Conventionally, odor removal methods have included adsorption media using active carbon. However, there is a problem in incorporating active carbon in home electrical appliances due to the odor adsorption life of the carbon.
NCI has extensive experience in the area of odor technology based on many years of experience, and we have developed a broad spectrum of long service life high-performance catalyst odor removal filters. This has made it possible to incorporate these products in home electrical appliances.
Recently, photo excitation catalysts have been developed. In addition to odor removal functions, they also have a bactericidal effect and studies are being conducted on employing them in many new applications.

Catalytic odor removal mechanism
As can be seen in the figure below, catalytic odor removal uses a mechanism of oxidizing the unpleasant odor substance, and so decomposing it.
  This gives a longer service life than the adsorption method.

Application

Odor Removal Filter HONEYLE Series
The main constituents of the gases that pollute the atmosphere include ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and mercaptan in odorous substances and formaldehyde given off from interior decorating materials used in house building and NOx (nitrogen oxide, etc.) contained in automobile exhaust gas.

A) Odor removal catalytic filter for ambient temperatures
HONEYLE CT
Features:

HONEYLE CT is a photo excitation catalytic filter that indicates the properties of semiconductors. It comprises an inorganic ceramic fiber material impregnated
with a highly active titanium oxide based photo catalyst. When the surface is exposed to ultraviolet light, the powerful oxidation properties of active oxygen decompose the elements of the malodorous substances and convert them to odorless substances. In addition, when the bactericidal properties of the photo catalyst are used in conjunction with an ultraviolet lamp, this gives a powerful bactericidal effect.

Air cleaners for homes and commercial properties and fan coil units for
hospitals.

HONEYLE CR/CN2
Features

HONEYLE CR/CN2 is a catalyst filter comprising an inorganic fiber ceramic honeycomb-structured material impregnated with a manganese-based catalyst.
With the addition of an adsorbent, it takes on high adsorption properties which can solve the problem caused by secondary regenerative substances. This solves the problem of short filter service life and ensures a long odor removal life. Moreover, due to the addition of silver, HONEYLE CR is able to decompose secondary products and has antibacterial properties.

Examples of applications:
Odor removal filters for refrigerators (HONEYLE CR), air purifiers for homes and commercial properties and odor removal filters for toilets.

HONEYLE UC
Features:

The substrate of this odor removal filter is foamed urethane, impregnated with a manganese-based catalyst and highly active carbon. It features outstanding acetaldehyde removal properties. As the substrate is soft and flexible it can be attached to curved surfaces.

B) High temperature service odor removal filter
HONEYLE CM
Features:

HONEYLE CM is a catalytic filter comprising a honeycomb-structured inorganic ceramic fiber material impregnated with a non-precious metal complex oxide catalyst. Compared to the precious metal catalysts of other manufacturers, HONEYLE CM is a highly active energy saving odor removal filter that does not require an auxiliary heater and which self-activates quickly at relatively low temperatures.
